Bereavement Services and Community Education

In our desire to offer ongoing care to the families we serve, the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel established Bereavement Services & Community Education. We have developed a program to assist those who have recently experienced the death of a family member or friend. Trained personnel, referral resources, bereavement support groups and an extensive lending library are available to you.

THE LIBRARY

We have over 500 books as well as brochures and articles that you may borrow or read in one of our lounges. Widowhood, terminal illness, aging, inspirational, and books for and about children are but a few of the areas covered. Audio visual material is also available. We believe the library is an excellent resource for both the grieving and for those in the caring professions.

MEMORIAL BOOK DONATION PROGRAM

There are many ways in which to honour an individual who has died. One option is to donate a volume to our library in remembrance of the individual. An inscription will be made on the front page of the book dedicating it to the memory of the person who has died. This gift will assist both the grieving and those who seek to support them.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUPS

Participating in a group can be a source of support for someone facing the grief that follows death.

There are no easy answers, but the sharing of common experiences and concerns can help the bereaved discover new strengths and insights which can aid in the recovery process. Finding support and encouragement may ease the pain and struggle.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Our speakers bureau is pleased to be called upon to provide a speaker on topics relating to death, dying and bereavement. Parent's groups, churches, schools, corporations, and community organizations in particular have made use of this service.
